01 Retail displays & fixtures
Store fixtures built to last — and to tell your brand story.
Custom store fixtures are permanent or semi-permanent retail installations — gondolas, wall systems, permanent bays, and specialty fixtures — engineered for a multi-year lifecycle. Unlike temporary POP, store fixtures live with the retailer for years and have to integrate with existing planograms, retailer hardware standards, and high-traffic abuse. arX designs and engineers store fixtures that look as fresh after a year as the day they were installed.
02 What it is
Permanent fixtures change the rules.
Temporary POP gets pulled in three months. Store fixtures stay. That changes everything — materials, joinery, hardware, finishes, retailer compliance, even the way the fixture has to handle being refreshed, restocked, and cleaned thousands of times.
A fixture engineered like a POP display won't survive year one. A fixture engineered like a piece of furniture might survive — but won't earn its place at retail. We engineer for both: long-life construction AND brand expression that still works at year three.
03 Formats
Fixture types we build.
The most common formats.
-
01
Gondolas
End-of-aisle and inline gondola units, sized to retailer-standard footprints, with custom branding, lighting, or shelf systems integrated.
-
02
Wall systems
Branded wall environments with shelf, peg, and slatwall integration. Common in beauty, electronics, and specialty retail.
-
03
Permanent bays
Anchor fixtures occupying a defined retail footprint — often a brand's "home" inside a category retailer.
-
04
Modular fixture systems
Reconfigurable fixture programs that adapt to multiple store formats with shared components.
-
05
Specialty fixtures
Custom forms for unusual products, unusual environments, or unusual retailer requirements.
04 How we engineer
Long-life fixtures have a different engineering job.
Engineered for the rigor
A store fixture has to survive thousands of cycles of traffic, restocking, cleaning, refresh, and retailer inspection. That's where the "looks-as-fresh-after-one-year" promise comes from — engineered for every interaction the fixture will see, not just day-one install.
- 01 Traffic — shoppers brushing past, leaning on, and bumping into the fixture thousands of times per week
- 02 Restocking — store team putting product on and off daily; every interaction has a tiny abrasion budget
- 03 Cleaning — retailer-required protocols, chemical-resistant finishes, no-stain surfaces
- 04 Refresh cycles — graphics and SKUs change; the fixture has to support that without rebuilding
- 05 Retailer inspection — fixtures inspected on visit cycles; a worn-looking fixture gets pulled
05 Materials
Materials for permanent fixtures.
A permanent fixture is your brand's permanent footprint at retail.
Most brands underestimate how much of their identity lives in their store fixtures. Shoppers who buy your brand at a specific retailer associate the brand with the fixture — its proportions, its finish, its lighting, its product organization.
That’s why we design store fixtures with the same brand-voice rigor we use on launch campaigns. The fixture has to read as your brand at first glance, and it has to hold that reading for years.

10 Store fixture FAQs
Store fixture FAQs. Direct answers.
All FAQs01. How long does a custom retail display last?
Permanent store fixtures last 1–7+ years depending on materials and traffic. Steel structural fixtures and aluminum extrusion systems can run 5–10+ years with proper engineering and refresh paths designed in.
02. What's the difference between permanent fixtures and temporary POP?
Temporary POP support a campaign window (4–12 weeks) using corrugated or paper substrates. Permanent fixtures support a category or store program for 1–7+ years using steel, wood, or premium plastics, with refresh-in-place paths designed in from the start.
03. What are retail displays made of?
Permanent store fixtures use powder-coated steel, MDF/engineered wood, wood veneer, acrylic, and aluminum extrusions. Each is matched to the fixture’s structural role, finish requirements, and lifecycle target.
04. What is a typical lead time for a custom retail display?
Permanent store fixture programs typically run 12–20 weeks from approved design to in-store, including prototyping, engineering review, and retailer compliance approval.
